(IT’S PRONOUNCED BE-YON-CÉ)
Legend has it that I, Rtusha Kulkarni, born in India and brought up in Minnesota, fell in love with movies when I was three months old. Seriously. Just ask my movie-buff parents who took me to the first-day-first-show of Die Hard III: With a Vengeance three months after I was born. I started making my own movies when I was 10 years old with my dad’s old camcorder (remember when that was a word?) and my love for filmmaking has only gotten even more insufferable over the years.
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BA in Studies in Cinema and Media Culture and a minor in Political Science, summa cum laude. Immediately after, like the good Indian daughter that I am, got my MFA in Film from Columbia University. To date, my credits include various short films and independent feature films from all around the world, as well as working for Archer Gray, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Netflix, and Bleecker Street Media.
I am determined to rule the world with movies and to always order anything on the menu containing mushrooms. Even if it gives me gas.
